Happy National Goof Off Day!
Hey, it's national goof off day! The perfect day to spend some time on RPForver! Also catch up on some Whitewater news, such as:
UW-Whitewater under construction -- During the next five years, a number of construction projects across campus will ensure that students have everything they need for a superior education and well-rounded college experience. Three of the major projects include the completion of Upham Hall, renovation of the University Center (including the rebirth of the Scott Koker Memorial Lounge) and a new College of Business and Economics building. (another new business building? WTF?)
Someone new is in Walt's old job -- I think she (Sara Kuhl) is a former Royal Purple staffer! I am not kidding! She came to speak at one of my classes once... it was before your guys' time I think -- it was during my freshman year when you guys were still in sixth grade ... anyway, just FYI.
New UW Literary Award -- when I first read that headline, I thought it said "literate award" .. like an award for a UW-Whitewater graduate who can actually read .. haha, but anyway, that is pretty exciting! So, Keefe .. there! Get your book published and you can be next year's recipient. Did you guys hear that Keefe wrote a book? Actually TWO books, she is looking for an agent and an illustrator.
Speaking of Walt, some of you were looking for contact info . Hey, here is an interesting tidbit of info ... Walt was born in Chicago, but grew up in Kenosha, Wis. His first summer job as a teen was babysitting for a cute and cuddlely newborn named Scottie Koker. Walt often reminices about those lazy, crazy summer days of taking young Scottie to the park, protecting him from the drug dealers and crack whores and then stopping on the way home to get ice cream. "Imagine my suprise during an SPJ meeting when I made the connection that little Scottie had grown up to be a fine young man! My, how time flies, and yet stands still. Why it seems like just yesterday I was changing his diapers."
